In the News

Last month, The Globe and Mail newspaper featured an article on the popularity of freebees inside cereal boxes among adults and kids alike. The feature, Toys for Grown-up Girls and Boys included a picture of Total Tone, one of Kellogg's promotional DVDs, immersed in a bowl of cereal (with the STOTT PILATES logo front and center). Canada's new health and wellness magazine Live It! interviewed our own Laureen Dubeau about the benefits of pilates vs. yoga for its premiere issue. Find it on newsstands this spring.


In a story on how to outfit your home gym, the March issue of Dance Magazine featured our 1lb. Toning Balls as well as the Toning Ball Workout and Secret to Toned Abs, Buns & Thighs DVD workouts.

West Palm Beach's daily newspaper, The Palm Beach Post, featured a selection of STOTT PILATES workout DVDs in a story on fitness accessories and exercise aids. Read the article.


In the article, The Only Five Things You Need to Know to get Fabulous Abs, Glamour magazine ranked the Ab Prep as #3. "Most ab exercises don't touch the band of muscle – called your transversus abdominus – that pulls in your lower belly. Targeting this area truly flattens your abs, not just defines them."

FitnessRx magazine featured an article on pilates for long-term fitness in its April issue noting that pilates makes every day movements easier and gives the entire body a workout, rather than isolate specific muscles groups.



In the News

Margaret Velez, STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor Trainer and owner of Volar Pilates in New York City is the recipient of the 2006 Signature Promise Award, presented by the New York Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. The Promise Award recognizes women whose businesses have the promise of breakthrough success based on innovation and progressive product and/or service plans.

Moira Merrithew is the winner of ECA's One Body One World Award for Best Mindful Program. Believing a healthy body and healthy mind should live in a healthy world, OBOW donates a portion of ECA profits annually to charities that assist our society educationally, environmentally or socially.


STOTT PILATES is a proud supporter of Jill Savege, Canada's Olympic triathlete, Pan Am gold medalist and National Champion. Jill placed ninth, with a time of 2:00:54, at the recent Commonwealth Games in Australia. Well done Jill.

Michaela Bimbi-Dresp, owner of Pilatesbody, a Licensed Training Center in Munich, Germany, has published her first book. STARTING POSITION

1 LYING ON BACK. Lower Back flattened toward mat. Abs scooped in toward spine. Both legs lifted with knees bent and Flex-band exerciser wrapped around balls of feet. Hands holding ends of band, elbows bent at sides.


EXERCISE

INHALE to prepare, then...

2 EXHALE Tighten abdominal muscles and straighten legs up toward ceiling. Keep torso stable and do not let back arch up off mat.

3 INHALE Keeping torso stable, bend knees to return to starting position.

Complete 5-8 repetitions
