In the News

The August issue of Self magazine featured the success story of one its readers who lost more than 79 pounds by starting and sticking with a healthy fitness routine and diet. Melissa Parm credited STOTT PILATES DVDs with helping her reach her weight loss goals.

City TV Fitness Reporter Tonya Rouse recently dropped by the STOTT PILATES International Certification Center in Toronto to learn about the Cadillac Trapeze Table.

Certified instructor trainer Andrea Fairborn and Senior Studio Coordinator Melissa Macchione were featured in the playful segment that aired on CP24.


IDEA Fitness Journal’s July/August article The Mind-Body Boom: The Evolution Continues featured several quotes from Lindsay Merrithew, president and CEO of STOTT PILATES. “When that light bulb goes on for people, that’s when the [pilates] program starts to pay off. Their members are satisfied and things start to gel."

The July/August issue of Pilates Style features a review of STOTT PILATES DVD Toned Arms, Buns & Thighs. "Those just beginning their pilates journey will appreciate Moira’s detailed explanations, in the introductory vignettes, of proper breathing and body placement."


Michigan Licensed Training Center Owner Nancy Hodari was quoted in the Detroit Free Press article about Francine Burgess, a former communications manager for Detroit public schools who decided to become a pilates instructor when she was laid off. She is training at Nancy’s facility, Equilibrium Mind-Body Fitness.

Philippines Licensed Training Center Owner Vivian Zapanta was profiled in FU Magazine. The article discusses the STOTT PILATES method, recounts the history of pilates and features images of Vivian performing exercises from the STOTT PILATES repertoire.


The Stronger Seniors Workout Program as seen on CNN, the History Channel and Lifetime television, was created by STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor Anne Pringle Burnell. The set of videos was recently endorsed by Dr. Allen S. Anderson, attending Cardiologist at the University of Chicago Hospitals, as a "safe, practical workout suitable for any senior who desires to increase mobility, strength and endurance."

Breast Stroke Prep with Toning Balls


WARM UP FIRST
Remember to start your workout with a warm-up.

STARTING POSITION

1 LYING on stomach on mat. Legs slightly apart, front of hips flat on mat. Hands by shoulders with elbows and nose hovering slightly above mat. Toning Balls underneath hands.


EXERCISE

2 INHALE Stabilizing shoulder blades on back and contracting abdominals, reach upper body in slight arch, keeping balls still and bottom ribs in contact with floor.


3 EXHALE Maintaining spine position and abdominal engagement, roll balls out in front.


4 INHALE Roll balls back in, maintaining upper back arch and stability.


5 EXHALE Lengthen and lower to starting position.

Complete 5-8 repetitions

1 starting position. lying on stomach

2 inhale. reach upper body

3 exhale. roll balls out

4 inhale. roll balls in

5 exhale. lower torso
