In the News

A recent issue of IDEA Fitness Journal features an article on Pilates and Pregnancy penned by STOTT PILATES Assistant Program Director Stefania Della Pia. The article outlines recommended exercises for each trimester.

OnSite Fitness, a Fitness and Aquatics magazine created for nonprofits like the YMCA and Jewish Community Center (JCC) included Pilates A-Z, a feature written to help facilities research Pilates equipment and education providers. STOTT PILATES is one of the three companies profiled in the article.


The February issue of Pilates Style included an article touting Pilates as a helpful addition to medical treatment for those suffering with Scoliosis. By focusing on alignment and rotational movement patterns, Pilates helps to increase stability in the core which is key in helping individuals with scoliosis decrease muscular rotation and increase strength.

STOTT PILATES was mentioned in the Feb 27 issue of Wall Street Journal on The article The Ball's in Your Cubicle is about the trend toward using Stability Balls as chairs in the workplace.

WARM UP FIRST

STARTING POSITION

LYING ON MAT. Feet hip distance apart. Pelvis in a neutral position, neither arched nor flattened.


EXERCISE

To prepare,
INHALE...

2

EXHALE
Starting from tailbone, slowly peel spine off mat until hips are lifted and weight is resting between shoulder blades.

3

INHALE
Hold position and tighten abdominal muscles.

4

EXHALE
Start from top of spine and slowly return to mat, lowering to starting position.

Complete 5-8 repetitions.
