Obliques Roll Back...... Be certain to warm up before exercising. Read these important cautions

STARTING POSITION
Seated tall and as close to neutral as possible. Legs abducted, hip-distance apart, knees slightly bent, feet flat on mat. Arms long, reaching parallel to floor, scapulae stabilized.

EXERCISE

To prepare, inhale…

EXHALE roll ASIS away from front of thighs and flex lumbar spine as low as flat abdominals can be maintained and without actually resting lumbar on mat. (Upper spine will flex slightly in response to lumbar spine.) Simultaneously, rotate upper torso and sweep arm down and back.

INHALE maintain abdominal connection as spine rotates back to center and lengthens to return to starting position. Simultaneously, sweep arm forward again.

Repeat to other side.

Complete 3-5 repetitions in each direction.

FOCUS
articulate pelvis away from legs as roll down begins, opening front of hip joint
stabilize scapulae to prevent shoulder and neck tension
maintain spinal flexion and transversus connection during rotation
. 1. starting position . 2. roll back
. 3. return to center . 4. rotate to the other side, roll back
. 5. return to center .
