PJ O’Clair is on the Move!

STOTT PILATES Master Instructor Trainer PJ O’Clair not only runs her own Pilates studio and Licensed Training Center called Northeast Pilates Certification Centers, and is featured in numerous STOTT PILATES DVDs; but she is also keeping herself busy as the newly appointed Lululemon Ambassador in Burlington, Massachusetts, near Boston. PJ will be making several in-store appearances over the next several months at Lululemon, and PJ will also be presenting at Canyon Ranch this month to teach guests the Foundations of Pilates.

And last, but certainly not least, PJ is a Finalist for the IDEA Program Director of the Year Award. “I was honored to have been selected as a finalist for 2006,” explains the two-time nominee for this prestigious international award. “And, it’s a true compliment to be nominated a second time for 2007. It's such an inspiration to have the confidence and support from my peers.” Congratulations, PJ, we wish you continued success!

STOTT PILATES Trains Singing Icon Sting

The Police was one of the most influential and successful bands of the early 80s. Lead vocalist and bassist, Sting, has gone on to enjoy an incredible career as a solo performer. To make sure he stays in shape for his demanding touring schedule, Sting relies on Pilates. In recent months, Sting trained with Carol Salt, a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor at Re-Balance Studio in Amsterdam. Sting enjoyed it so much, he asked Carol to come back to train both him and his manager. He also trained with Jill Winegar at her studio, The SweatShop, while in Minnesota. Sting says he’ll continue to train with STOTT PILATES – and we’ll make sure to be there with every breath he takes.

What Pro Athletes Use to Stay in Shape

Even if you’re not a basketball fan, you’ve probably heard of Kobe Bryant. The Los Angeles Lakers guard is one of the NBA’s all-time greats, and to make sure he stays in this elite class, he includes Pilates in his rigorous training regimen. Since Kobe demands the best, his representatives recently contacted STOTT PILATES to ask about our Reformers. We were delighted to hear from the All-Star, and were quick to supply him with a new V2 Max Plus™ Reformer. New for 2008!

STOTT PILATES will be offering the Intensive and Advanced Cadillac, Chair & Barrels courses in three separate modules so you can choose the specialty you want to take and when! Course modules are available at our Toronto International Certification Center beginning in January. More locations to be announced soon.

Completion of all three modules is required to be eligible for certification.

How many credits are awarded for a STOTT PILATES workshop?

A

This is dependent on the length of the workshop. But as a rule, 0.1 credit is awarded per hour of study. For example, three-hour workshops are worth 0.3 CECs.

WARM UP FIRST

Remember to start every workout with a warm up.

START POSITION

Sit on the ball with your spine in a neutral position, neither arched nor flat. Place feet flat on the mat, hip-distance apart, with hands resting on sides of ball.


EXERCISE

INHALE to prepare

2

EXHALE
Tighten abdominals and flex spine, bringing lower back toward ball. Keep head and shoulders upright.

3

INHALE
Return to seated position.

Complete 3-5 repetitions.
