STARTING POSITION
Sitting with your weight back of your sit-bones. Back is round in C-curve position. Create a diamond shape with your legs, knees and hips are bent. Knees apart and the feet together a few inches off mat. Hands reaching through legs to hold outside of ankles, scapulae stabilized. Slight pressure of legs against arms and arms against legs to help stabilize position.
EXERCISE
INHALE maintaining C-curve and relationship of legs to body, initiate by using the abdominals to deepen curve of spine and roll backwards, no further than between the shoulder blade area. DO NOT ROLL ONTO YOUR NECK AND HEAD. Balance between the shoulder blade area and clap feet three times.
EXHALE maintaining C-curve, roll forward to return to starting position. Balance and clap feet three times.
Complete 8-10 repetitions
FOCUS
Initiate roll back using abdominals to deepen C-curve rather than initiating from head or shoulders.
Use abdominals to initiate roll up instead of gaining momentum from legs.
Even amount of C-curve from top of head to tailbone.
Rock back only as far as the shoulder blade area , not onto neck and head.
Slide scapulae down to stabilize.
Roll through center of spine.
Maintain the relationship between the body and the legs.
