Want to know more about the STOTT PILATES phenomenon? New LTCs boost worldwide instructor training

We’re excited to announce the addition of four new Licensed Training Centers that will enhance STOTT PILATES’ education and training capabilities on three continents. The new locations bring the total number of LTCs to 50.

Pilates Studio Fit in Sao Paulo, Brazil is one of our newest LTC partners. Partner Leo Yamada, who brought the Les Mills training program to Brazil, has helped train over 300 Pilates instructors to date. He is currently translating course materials into Portuguese, and is also the distributor of STOTT PILATES equipment for Brazil. A hosting center since 2004, Litton Lane Training in Dublin, Ireland has just joined the STOTT PILATES LTC family. Philip Phelan’s facility not only offers Pilates, but also training courses in fitness instruction, personal training, massage therapy, and moving and handling training. Working with Instructor Trainer Dani Gonzalez, Phelan will initially be located at Westpark Fitness. For more information, visit Litton Lane Training.

     

STOTT PILATES welcomes Mexico City’s Pilates For Life as a new LTC partner. Nancy Poza de Bravo owns and operates two fully dedicated Pilates studios, which also include in-house day spa facilities. Pilates South Texas, located in the Pilates Houston studio in Texas, is another great addition to the LTC family in North America. In charge is Instructor Trainer Chau Pham Kid, who is certified in Mat/Reformer, Cadillac, Chair & Barrels and Injuries & Special Populations, and is also a Hatha Yoga and Fitness Instructor. STOTT PILATES studios make the Hot List

Los Angeles

John Garey Pilates in Long Beach, CA has just been voted the #1 studio in Los Angeles on the Fox 11 News web site’s 2007 Hot List of the best businesses in the LA area. Garey’s studio beat 48 other fitness facilities in the Health and Fitness – Pilates Studio Category, thanks to an enthusiastic response from his clients. New foreign-language Pilates DVDs add international flavor

STOTT PILATES is pleased to offer an expanded selection of DVDs with sound tracks in different languages to meet the needs of our instructors and clients worldwide. The At Home Reformer Workout Pro DVD was released in December with an additional language track in French. This title is now available in English or English/French versions.

CONTINUING EDUCATION


   

Is your continuing education up-to-date?
If you are a Certified STOTT PILATES instructor who completed your exams in 2006 or earlier, it is time to make sure sure your Continuing Education Credits are up to date. Each calendar year you need to accumulate your 0.6 CECs.

When do I need to submit my Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for 2007?

A

All CEC documents must be received by STOTT PILATES, no later than January 21, 2008. When taking a workshop at the STOTT PILATES International Certification Center or a Licensed Training Center, your credits are issued automatically upon completion. You will receive a completion letter from STOTT PILATES stating the proper CECs.

For STOTT PILATES workshops or presentations at trade shows, you are responsible for sending the documentation to the International Certification Center in Toronto. We require the following:

  • CEC submission form [click here to download]
  • Trade show receipt
  • Workshop completion letter if pre-con was attended 

CECs are earned every year on the calendar year and are not transferable from one year to another. Please note that the CEC period begins January 1 and ends December 31.

Spine Stretch Forward with the Stability Ball

WARM UP FIRST

Remember to start every workout with a warm up.

START POSITION

Kneeling in front of ball, spine in a neutral position, neither arched nor flattened. Knees hip-distance apart. Hands resting on sides of ball.



EXERCISE

1

INHALE to prepare

2

EXHALE
Start from the top of the head and sequentially round forward, pushing ball away from body. Keep legs upright and do not allow shoulders to lift up by ears.

3

INHALE
Roll up to starting position, from tail to head, bringing spine upright.

Complete 3-5 repetitions.
