In the News

Physical Therapy Products’ November issue featured an article about Pilates and therapeutic techniques for pediatric autism. Physiotherapist Dawn-Marie Ickes is a trained Pilates instructor who uses Pilates to help with movement and environmental transitions, two of the biggest challenges autistic children face.

Cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Nov/Dec issue of Muscle & Fitness hers magazine. An article about mountain biking suggests preparing for the sport by building core strength, stability and mental focus. Sound familiar? These are just a few of the many benefits of STOTT PILATES exercise. 


The December issue of Fitness Rx features Lengthen & Strengthen Your Legs, an article about how Pilates really works legs by strengthening the pelvic region, something typically not addressed in any other exercise.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UPDATE

Attention Certified Instructors: Please remember you have only two (2) weeks left to accumulate the required 0.6 Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for 2006. Submissions must be received by December 15, so if you are mailing your submission, please allow sufficient time.

Spotlight FAQ:
How do I make a submission for my CECs?

A: You are required to keep track of all your Continuing Education Credits (workshops, videos, petitions, private evaluations, etc.) and retain all relevant documents. These, along with a CEC submission form, must be received by the STOTT PILATES International Certification Center by December 15 of each year.

WARM UP FIRST

STARTING POSITION

SEATED ON MAT
with legs stretched out in front (if necessary, sit on a cushion or phone book, or bend knees to sit up as straight as possible). Hands on top of Fitness Circle.


EXERCISE

To prepare, INHALE...


2

EXHALE
starting from the top of the head, bend forward and press Fitness Circle down with your hands. Keep shoulders away from your ears.


3

INHALE
return to starting position, lifting head last, and release tension on the Fitness Circle.


Complete 5-8 repetitions

1 starting position. inhale to prepare, then...

2 exhale. bend forward

3 inhale. roll up
