Rehab Shoulder and Lumbar Stabilization
July 12 | 2-5pm | $195
introduces the modern biomechanical principles of STOTT PILATES and their application to a series of modified essential level Matwork and/or equipment-based exercises. Emphasis is placed on pelvis and shoulder girdle stabilization and the role they play in preventing and healing lumbar and cervical injuries. Participants perform exercises and learn to identify proper execution and movement patterns.

Intro To Fitness Circle & Flex-Band
August 23 | 2-5pm | $160
will show you how to intensify STOTT PILATES exercises and add variety to your Pilates programming using the Fitness Circle resistance ring and Flex-Band exerciser.

Arc Barrel
September 27 | 2:30-4:30pm | $125
will show you how to enhance pilates Matwork using the Small or Arc Barrel to improve flexibility, torso stability and to modify exercises. Also valuable for yoga practice.

Challenging Your Clients Safely
October 25 | 2-5pm | $195
is designed for pilates professionals who want to learn how to progress through Essential, Intermediate and Advanced level workouts while maintaining the essence of each exercise. Questions relating to client issues and workout design are encouraged. This workshop will focus primarily on Mat and Reformer exercises. Pre-requisite: experience teaching pilates.

STOTT is recognized by the American Council on Exercise® as a Continuing Education Specialist. Earn 3.0 ACE CECs for Matwork course. Earn 5.2 CECs for Reformer course

PREREQUISITES
The intensive courses above are recommended for certified fitness instructors, personal trainers, and other fitness & health professionals who want to expand their knowledge and enhance their business. Applicants must have, at least three years experience teaching fitness, dance or movement, familiarity with the works of Joseph Pilates, formal anatomy training and a working knowledge of muscle origins, insertions and functions, in order to attend the course.

The Studio
The Almaden Valley Athletic Club is located on six acres in a resort-style setting just minutes from the San Jose Airport and less than an hour south of San Francisco. AVAC features: a fully equipped pilates studio,11 championship tennis courts, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, state-of-the-art fitness center and group exercise room, whirlpools, steam room, and saunas. The Poolside Cafe serves sandwiches, salads, homemade soups, plus a full selection of beverages, including expresso and Lattés.

The pilates studio and group exercise facility have nine Reformers, two Chairs, Cadillac, and Barrels. All in all, AVAC offers more than 3,200-square-feet of space for STOTT certification and workshops.

An award-winning club, since 1976 thousands of members and their guests have come here to enjoy what is known as "The AVAC Difference."



InHales Pilates Techniques
InHales Pilates Techniques is owned and operated by Carla Hales, who provides complete STOTT PILATES certification, graduate courses as well as workshops.

Originally from Toronto, Canada, Carla has been an Instructor-Trainer* for STOTT since 1999. She has taught intensive and comprehensive programs as a team member of Instructor-Trainers under Moira Stott-Merrithew and was associate technical director for several of the company’s instructional videos.

Traveling throughout the states and internationally as an Instructor-Trainer for STOTT, Carla has also taught workshops in the San Francisco Bay area – educating a number of pilates instructors and trainers in Northern California. She is director of AVAC's Pilates Studio and Programs and has made California her home since 2000.

Carla holds a Honors Degree in Dance from Canada's York University, is an A.C.E Certified Personal Trainer and is recognized as a continuing education provider by the American Council on Exercise.
