comprehensive courses provide the functional anatomy education and practical skills required to develop effective and motivating mat- and equipment-based fitness and post-rehab programs. The entire Comprehensive Program is conducted over nine months, requiring a commitment of approximately 15 hours per week and a total of one hundred hours apprenticeship.

PREREQUISITES The intensive courses above are recommended for certified fitness instructors, personal trainers, and other fitness & health professionals who want to expand their knowledge and enhance their business. Applicants must have, at least three years experience teaching fitness, dance or movement, familiarity with the works of Joseph Pilates, formal anatomy training and a working knowledge of muscle origins, insertions and functions, in order to attend the course.

The Studio
The first fully licensed STOTT PILATES certification center in the U.S. continues to set the standard for a fully equipped, state-of-the-art facility, where environment and education come together to make fitness an enriching experience.

ourteen certified and certifying instructors, including four senior Instructor Trainers, and two Physical Therapists with advanced STOTT PILATES rehab training make this facility world class!

Full certification, including an enriching apprenticeship program, with classes starting five times a year accomodate the most serious pilates students. Equilibrium also offers Gyrotonic, Gyrokineses, Alexander Technique, and Ballet Barre.

Eva Powers M.A. Chairman of Wayne State University Department of Dance. Eva is a full professor, and was responsible for creating a Dance Kinesiology course reflecting her interest in the integration of body and mind conditioning for dancers with specific focus on pilates. Fully certified as a STOTT PILATES teacher trainer. Eva is a dancer, choreographer, gifted professor, and mentor to new STOTT PILATES teachers at Equilibrium.

Kim Dunleavy PT, MS, MOMT, OCS
Certified for Lumbar and Shoulder Stabilization on Mat and Reformer, Instructor for ISP course, Kim is an orthopedic physical therapist and an assistant professor at Wayne State University, Department of Physical Therapy and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Kim is widely published and lectures world-wide on orthopedic treatment and management of dance injuries. Kim is a competitive ballroom dancer and started with STOTT PILATES exercise to improve flexibility and muscle synchronization.

Amy Kubo combines backrounds in dance, sports medicine, and Gyrotonic to design safe, yet challenging pilates workouts. Amy holds certifications as a strength & conditioning specialist, a speed, agility & quickness instructor and a STOTT-certified Rehabilitation Trainer and emphasizes appling the STOTT principles to daily activities.

Anne Dwyer has been dancing and teaching dance from an anatomical perspective since 1976 and has studied with Jan Wodinski of the Alwin Nikolai Dance Theater and Marie Paquet of the Jeoffry Ballet. before certifying as an Instructor Trainer. Upcoming goals include ACE certification and a master’s program in biomechanics.

Trent McEntire’s mission is to challenge, push and carefully guide clients and trainers in reaching their fitness and professional goals.

Gayle Eubanks was a leading dancer with Harbinger Dance before training in pilates and GXS. She also coaches figure skaters in ballet and movement concepts as she studies to become a certified Instructor Trainer

Laura Dixon has studied many forms of bodywork -- Gyrokinesis, Alexander, Bartinieff Fundamentals and Feldenkrais -- and enjoys sharing her growing knowledge with her clients. She completed her pilates certification at Body Balance in Chicago. She is also a dancer and administrative assistant for CounterGroove Dance Company.

Amy Pronovost certified here at Equilibrium. She is also the ballet director of Dance Dynamics, a local studio and enjoys sharing her knowledge of pilates with her students to develop body awareness and proper technique.

Angela Filippis is a certified Mat & Reformer instructor as well as in college working towards a B.S. in exercise physiology. She is committed to helping others develop greater body awareness and strength. She also studies hip-hop dance and ballet and continues to train towards becoming a certified Instructor Trainer.

Jennifer Galvin holds a degree in Exercise Physiologist with an extensive background in dance and is studying to become a STOTT PILATES certified instructor.

Denise McKeever believes in a multi-disciplined approach. "Stott Pilates builds well-aligned core strength; Alexander relieves tension" She is completing her certification in both as well as studying TaiChi, Yoga, Bertinieff and Gyrotonic.

Jill Mueller holds a B.S. degree in exercise physiology. She works at the studio while attending the certification program and begins apprentice teaching this year. She is very excited about a future as a STOTT PILATES instructor!

Debi Bernstein-Siegel has worked in the dance/body field for over 25 years. A faculty member at Oakland University in Music, Theater and Dance, she is currently completing her STOTT PILATES certification.

Michael Rice has worked in the mind-body fitness field for twenty-six years teaching dance, yoga, t'ai chi, meditation, and most recently STOTT PILATES. Michael's unique background makes him a challenging and thoughtful teacher. His clients love his multidisciplinary approach to their workouts.

Lisa Sata is certified as an aerobic and spinning teacher by the American College of Sports Medicine. Her goals include completing her level two full certification this year.
