Lindsay G. Merrithew, a four-time recipient of PROFIT Magazine’s 100 Fastest -Growing Companies award and a two-time finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, has been the driving force in the rapid growth and success of Merrithew Corporation and its subsidiary STOTT PILATES*. Born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Mr. Merrithew completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia before enrolling in and graduating from the theater program at the Juilliard School of Performing Arts in New York City.

In 1988 Mr. Merrithew and business partner and wife, Moira Merrithew, opened their first STOTT PILATES Studio in Toronto. They began manufacturing professional quality pilates equipment in 1993, established an education division in 1995 and in 1997 launched their video line, which today numbers more than 50 titles.

In addition to being instrumental in the development, production and marketing of STOTT PILATES products and services, Mr. Merrithew oversees Merrithew Corporation’s strategic growth as the only vertically integrated organization of its kind worldwide. He also executive produced the company’s video line and new television series “STOTT PILATES with Moira,” which aired nationally on WTSN in 2003.

In addition to his duties as president and chief executive officer of STOTT PILATES and Merrithew Corporation, Mr. Merrithew has appeared on stage, in film and on television. He executive-produced and starred in the Hurly Burly Theatre Company’s production of Macbeth at Berkley Street Theatre and played Brutus in a filmed version of Julius Caesar, aired on Bravo. Other U.S. and Canadian acting credits include lead roles in such feature films and television shows as the Harlequin Romance series for CBS, Traders, Murder Times Seven with Richard Crenna and Family Pictures with Angelica Houston.

A member of Ontario’s prestigious Innovators Alliance for elite entrepreneurs, Mr. Merrithew is consulted regularly by the fitness trade and business media.
